Aloo Matar Tehri


This is a very simple one pot recipe.


Ingredients :

  • Rice – 1 & 1/2 cup
  • Onion – 2 medium, Sliced
  • Potato – 2 small, Cut into cubes
  • Green Peas – 1/4 cup, Boiled
  • Tomato – 1 big, Sliced
  • Ginger Garlic Paste – 1 tbsp
  • Green Chilli Paste – 1 tbsp
  • Red Chilli Powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Coriander Powder – 3 tsp
  • Turmeric Powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Green Chillies – 4, Chopped
  • Salt To Taste
  • Oil
  • Water

Method :

  • Wash and soak rice.
  • Heat oil in a pressure cooker, add in sliced onions.
  • Fry till onions are golden brown.
  • Add in ginger garlic paste, saute for few seconds.
  • Then add green chilli paste and fry few seconds.
  • Add chopped tomato, red chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder and salt.
  • Cook till oil oozes out and tomato is well cooked.
  • Add potatoes & green chillies Fry for 1 minute.
  • Add in boiled green peas.
  • Add in soaked rice and 5 cups of water.
  • Pressure cook for 15 minutes on high flame and leave it till pressure is automatically released.

Serve hot with curd.

If you like less spicy then reduce the amount of chilli.

Paneer Gravy


This is very simple and quick yet delicious recipe.


Ingredients :

  • Paneer – 300 gms
  • Onions – 2 medium sized
  • Ginger Garlic Paste – 2 tsp
  • Tomato Paste – 2 tbsp
  • Red Chilli Powder – 1 tsp
  • Coriander Powder – 2 tsp
  • Turmeric Powder – 1/4 tsp
  • Cumin Seeds Powder – 1 tsp
  • Garam Masala Powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Fenugreek Leaves – 1 tsp
  • Cream – 2 tbsp
  • Oil/Butter
  • Salt To Taste

Method :

  • Grind onions and make paste.
  • Heat oil in a wok and shallow fry paneer till golden brown. Remove and keep aside.
  • In the same wok add onion paste.
  • Saute till onions are well cooked.
  • Add ginger garlic paste and fry till rawness is gone.
  • Add tomato paste, red chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, cumin seeds powder, garam masala powder, salt and little water.
  • Cook on medium to high heat till masala is done and oil oozes out.
  • Then add fenugreek leaves and cream.
  • Add in paneer.
  • Simmer for 1 minute.
  • Garnish with cream.

Serve hot with naan/roti. I prefer cheese naan. The combination is just delicious.

Egg Curry


Ingredients :

  • Eggs – 6, boiled
  • Onions – 3 medium sized
  • Whole Garam Masala – Coriander Seeds 1 tbsp, Black Pepper – 10, Cloves 2, Black Cardamom 1, Green Cardamom 2, Cumin Seeds 1 tsp
  • Tomatoes – 2 Large
  • Ginger Garlic Paste – 2 tsp
  • Green Chilli Paste – 1 tbsp
  • Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Coriander Powder – 1 tsp
  • Turmeric Powder – 1 tsp
  • Coriander leaves
  • Salt to taste

Method :

  • Fry the boiled eggs, set aside.
  • Slice 1 onion and fry till golden brown, grind and keep aside.
  • Grind 2 tomatoes and keep aside.
  • Dry roast the whole garam masala and grind & set aside.
  • Grind 2 onions and make a paste.
  • Heat oil, add onion paste.
  • Saute till onion paste is well cooked.
  • Add ginger garlic paste and green chilli paste. Fry till rawness is gone.
  • Add grinded tomatoes, kashmiri red chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, grinded garam masala, onions & salt.
  • Cook till oil oozes out and tomatoes are well cooked.
  • Add water and adjust the consistency accordingly.
  • Add fried eggs and simmer for 2 minutes.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves.

Serve hot with rice.

Khatte Chole


Ingredients :

  • Chickpeas – 400 gms
  • Baking soda – 1/4 tsp
  • Whole Garam Masala – 2 Cloves, 5 Black Pepper, Cinnamon 1 inch, Black Cardamom 1
  • Cumin Seeds 1/2 tsp
  • Green Chilli Paste – 1/2 tbsp
  • Ginger Garlic Paste – 1 tsp
  • Tomato – 1 big, chopped
  • Turmeric Powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Coriander Powder – 1 tsp
  • Dry Mango Powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Cumin Seeds Powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Garam Masala Powder – 1/4 tsp
  • Green Chillies – 2 ,chopped
  • Half Lemon Juice
  • Salt
  • Oil

Method :

  • In a pressure cooker add chickpeas, whole garam masala, baking soda, salt and water. Pressure cook till chickpeas are well cooked.
  • Heat oil in a wok.
  • Add cumin seeds and let it crackle.
  • Add ginger garlic paste and green chilli paste, saute for 1 minute.
  • Then add turmeric powder, coriander powder, dry mango powder, cumin seeds powder, garam masala powder. Saute for few seconds.
  • Add chopped tomato,salt, cook till tomatoes are well cooked & oil separates from the masala.
  • Add green chillies and cooked chickepeas into the masala, mix well
  • Squeeze half lemon juice.
  • Cook on low flame for 2 mins.

Serve with bhature/paratha.

Simple Hara Aloo Matar

This is a very simple one pot recipe with only 3 ingredients.

Recipe Serves : 4

Ingredients :

  • Potatoes – 6 to 7 medium size potatoes
  • Green Peas – 1 & 1/2 cup
  • Green chilli paste – 2 & 1/2 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil

Method :

  • Cut potatoes in bhujia style.
  • Heat oil and add green chilli paste.
  • Saute till rawness is gone.
  • Then add green peas, cover and cook till half done.
  • Then add potatoes, cover and cook till sabzi is completely done.

Serve with roti/paratha.

Whole Moong Dal Gravy

This is a easy and healthy dish. Moong beans are high in nutrients. They are also a very filling food, high in protein, resistant starch and dietary fiber.


Ingredients :

  • Whole Moong Dal – 1 cup
  • Onion – 1 small, sliced
  • Whole Red Chillies – 4
  • Dry Coconut Powder – 4 tbsp
  • Cumin Seeds – 1 tsp
  • Ginger Garlic Paste – 1 tsp
  • Red Chilli Powder – 1 tsp
  • Coriander Powder – 2 tsp
  • Turmeric Powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Dry Mango Powder – 1 & 1/2 tbsp
  • Salt To Taste
  • Oil

Method :

  • Soak whole moong dal overnight in water.
  • Dry roast red chillies, cumin seeds and dry coconut powder, one at a time. Grind together by adding little water.
  • Heat oil in a pressure cooker and add sliced onion. Cook till onion turn slightly brown.
  • Add ginger garlic paste and saute for few seconds.
  • Add the grinded masala, red chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, dry mango powder and salt.
  • Saute till masala is cooked well and oil oozes.
  • Then add soaked moong dal.
  • Add 3 cups of water and pressure cook.

Serve hot with plain rice.
